Reminder: Merging questions and converting them to a Multichoice question is done in the Import Edit Mode.
This example shows multiple questions related to the reasons why the vehicle was purchased.
To convert individual questions to a multichoice binary question, select all the individual questions that will make up the responses of the new multichoice binary question, then click the Merge button.
The Merge options will be listed, select the Binary-Coded Multichoice option.
The selected questions will appear in a window for confirmation.
Any questions that should not be included can be removed by clicking the X.
Assign a name to the new multichoice question. By default, the label text of the first question that is included in the multichoice binary question will be assigned as the temporary multichoice question name. Change this to something that describes the new question that is being created.
Verify the contents of the ‘Yes Is’ middle column. There may be more than one data code associated with the questions. The 'yes is' value is the data code that will be defined as a “hit” value and treated as a valid count for the multi-response binary question.
Optionally edit the contents in the ‘Label’ column. This is what will appear as a response in the merged multichoice binary question.
Productivity Tip:
Before merging questions into a multichoice, use the bulk rename feature to remove text or edit labels. This will make it more efficient when editing labels.
Click OK to confirm the changes.
The individual questions that previously appeared listed on the left side of the editor window will be replaced with the new multichoice binary question.
Make additional edits to the existing multichoice question with the Edit button, located at the bottom of the page.
To undo the multichoice question and return to the individual questions, click the Unmerge option.
To save the changes and exit Edit Mode, click the Apply Changes button, located in the top-right of the Edit Mode window.
The merged multichoice binary question is available in the list of questions where the individual questions were displayed previously.
