Category-Coded Multichoice Questions

Reminder: Merging questions and converting them to a Multichoice question is done in the Import Edit Mode.

This example shows two questions related to the languages spoken by the respondent (main pilot); language option #1 and language option #2.
Both questions are coded, category questions and allow the respondent to provide up to two languages as answers.

On the right-side of the window under Responses in Dataset, the responses can be inspected to confirm the questions are consistently coded and labeled.

A Category multichoice question needs to be structured with a coded list of labeled responses.
The coding and response labels must be consistent across all questions.

After confirming that each of the questions share the same code structure and response labels, proceed with merging the questions.

To convert separate questions into a new category-coded multichoice question, select all of the individual questions that should be part of the new multichoice question, then click the Merge button.

The selected questions will appear in a window for confirmation.
Any questions that should not be included can be removed by clicking the X, located to the right of each question label.
With the exception of the first question listed, any other question can be removed.

Assign a name to the new multichoice question and click OK to confirm.

(The additional checkmark has been added to the question icon to identify it as multichoice.)

All of the individual questions that previously appeared listed on the left side of the editor window are replaced with the new multichoice question.

Make additional edits to the multichoice question by clicking the Edit button located at the bottom of the page.
To undo the merged multichoice question and return to the individual questions, click the Unmerge button.
