Data Import also supports Qualtrics project files.
● Users must have a separate account with Qualtrics.
● Users will need to export their project files from the Qualtrics platform.
● Two exported files are required to be able to import Qualtrics projects into Analyze.
○ QSF
○ CSV
Note: The CSV file must be exported from Qualtrics at the same time as the QSF.
CSV files generated outside of the Qualtrics platform are not compatible with Data Import.
The following steps describe the import steps that are different from the SPSS import requirements.
Once the Qualtrics files have been imported to Analyze, the project will look and behave the same as any other type of imported project.
To begin the Qualtrics import process into Analyze, go to the Get Data panel and expand the Study Family menu.
Use the option at the bottom.
Select Create New Study Family and the following window will appear.
Change the Input Data Format selection to Qualtrics.
Select the QSF and CSV files that were previously exported from the Qualtrics platform.
Enter a name to assign as the Study Family
This is the name that the imported data will be placed under.
If a user wants to load the 2016 EU5 ABC dataset, they will first select the ‘ABC Survey’ option.
‘ABC Survey’ is the study family and ‘ABC Survey EU5 2016 FY’ is the dataset name.
After assigning a Study Family name, enter the Dataset name.
Click OK to begin the conversion process.
After the import completes, a summary of the dataset conversion is displayed.
The user can go directly into Edit Mode to start editing the dataset to clean it up and make it more user-friendly or the user can start using the data by clicking Apply.
If the user clicks Go To Edit Mode, the dataset will appear in the Edit Mode window to allow for functions such as:
● Moving questions into new sections
● Changing question types (e.g. category to numeric)
● Renaming question labels
● Assigning weights
● Merging separate questions into a multi-response question
● Changing the order of questions
● Removing questions
If the user clicks Apply, the dataset will finalize the conversion and a new entry will appear in the Study Family list.
The converted dataset will appear in the Available Sources section, where the user can select the dataset and start using it in Analyze.
Note: In general, Qualtrics imported projects should typically require less editing in the Analyze Editor compared to an SPSS imported file.
This is because the data has been somewhat structured and organized in the Qualtrics platform before it is exported.
An SPSS file oftentimes is not as organized or is more loosely structured.
