Accessing the Viewing Mode - Author or Storybulider

 

As the author of the Compose report, to “preview” the report in the Viewing mode you can use the VIEWING option available in the Compose module next to the export option. It is possible to switch to the Viewing mode from any place inside the Authoring mode (Connect, Query or Compose) thanks to the unified application header. When switching from a specific page or query, this will open this specific page or query in the Viewing mode whenever possible.

 

 

It is not necessary to save the changes before switching to the Viewing mode - the report state will always be synced between the Viewing mode, the Authoring mode (Query + Compose) and Storybuilding mode. It is however impossible to open “new reports” in the Viewing mode, so those that have not been saved at least once.

 

 

It is important to note that actions related to editing the report will not be available while in the Viewing mode, even if user has Edit rights to the document and role that allows using Authoring or Storybuilding. This means that while the page state and parameter state will remain in-sync between all modes, actions such as Save, Save As and Merge will only be accessible after switching to Storybuilding or Authoring, so that users have to explicitly decide that they want to work on updating the current or new report rather than just view it.
