In this basic example let us use "Create new question - define responses and conditions." Selecting this option will open a new interface where you can begin defining your UDQ.
Name the UDQ: Choose a name that represents the purpose of the new question;
Adjust the Question scope: Modify the list of questions to include only those relevant to your analysis or workflow; Once the scope is defined, select OK.
Select the Group under which this new question will be listed. The default place for the UDQ is the User defined questions section at the end of the Questions list.
Adjust the Question Type: Select the type of question that best aligns with your desired outcome (i.e., multiple-choice, single-response).
Select Preferred weight: "Default weight for a dataset" or if you need you can select "Follow the preference of another question." This indicates that the weight applied to your question will automatically match the weight used by the selected reference question. This ensures that the same weighing is applied to your question as well as the question you are referring to.
Click plus sign at the bottom of the pop-up screen to create response labels.
Name this new response.
Click the "Search questions" field and start searching. Once you find the variable you need for your analysis click it and drag and drop it in the "Condition for the selected response" column. Alternatively, right-click a question and select "Add to conditions."
In our case we need additional question that includes answers - male and female. I use search to locate the question about Sex and add this variable to conditions.
Apply subset to the questions you added to the right column. Select the necessary values and confirm this selection by clicking OK. Follow the same steps of applying subset with all the responses added to the right column.
"Young and Male" label was created. As we want to have more response labels in this analysis, we can duplicate the existing label and simply adjust the subset and the name of the label.
Edit response labels to reflect the subsets created.
After defining a UDQ (with its conditions and response labels), you can click TEST, this step ensures that the output matches your expectations. You review the responses to confirm that:
• The conditions were correctly applied;
• The responses are grouped under the correct labels;
• There are no errors in logic or unexpected results.
If you want to keep this UDQ as a permanent entity, check the "Keep permanently" box. This will ensure you can use this newly created question outside of this report.
