Create Reusable Mapping

A reusable mapping is a shared reference in your report that can be used across multiple recoded questions. It allows you to create a single mapping that can be reused in different parts of the report, ensuring consistency and saving time.

Each shared mapping has its own permissions, which can be assigned to individuals or groups. When you create a shared mapping, you automatically have full permissions for it. If you gain access - whether full or read-only - to a recoded question that uses a shared mapping, you will inherit the same level of access to that shared mapping. If you open a project containing a permanent recode that you don't have access to, you will be granted temporary read-only access for the session. This ensures the recode appears normally in the questionnaire. However, it is possible to have full access to a recoded question but only read-only access to the shared mapping that it relies on. In this case, you will not be able to modify the shared mapping, but you can change the mapping type to an individual one or delete the recoded question.

To manage reusable mappings, you can click the "Manage Reusable Mapping" option in the dots menu next to the question or splits label. This opens the "Manage Reusable Mappings" modal, where you will see only the shared mappings you have access to. If you have full permissions, you can rename the shared mapping, assign permissions (full or read-only) to other users, and delete the shared mapping. If you have read-only permissions, you can view a list of users with access and their permission levels, but you will not be able to make changes.
