Banded Median

Banded numeric endpoints are supported when calculating medians in Halo Reports. Some survey questions can include responses given as a range instead of the actual amount. An income question, for example, often asks respondents to select from a range that best describes their income status: $20,000 or less, $20,001 to $25,000, $25,001 to $30,000… etc.

Since the survey question never asked the exact amount, we must interpolate the statistical calculation as best as possible.

Note: Median calculations are not an issue for questions where the actual value was provided in the data. The issue only applies to questions that were asked as a range, and the lower and upper values need to be interpolated.

Halo Reports can use a range-based calculation that includes lower and upper endpoint values instead of the midpoint. This allows you to include more discriminating and compelling median values in your reports.
