Getting Started with an Initial File
Starting a Study Family and Importing an Initial File
Study families group the individual datasets in Halo Reports.
For example, the 2019, 2018, 2017 ABC datasets can be accessed by first selecting the 'ABC Survey' study family.
To import into Halo Reports a new data file, which is not associated with any other existing dataset, an additional step to create a new study family is required.
The new study family will be created during the process of importing the data file.
To begin the data import process into Halo Reports go to Connect and expand the Study Family menu.
At the bottom of the list, click on Create New Study Family.
The Create New Study Family window will appear.
-
Select the format of the data file.
(Currently, you can select either SPSS (.SAV) or Qualtrics (.QSF and .CSV) files)
-
Click the
Select File button to specify the SPSS (.SAV) or Qualtrics (.QSF and .CSV) file.
-
Enter a name of the newly created study family. This is the name under which the imported data will be organized.
For example, if a user wants to load the 2016 EU5 ABC dataset, they will first select the ‘ABC Survey’ option.
‘ABC Survey’ is the study family and ‘ABC Survey EU5 2016 FY’ is the dataset name.
-
After assigning a study family name, enter the dataset name.
In this example, a new study family and dataset name were specified:
Study Family: ABC
Dataset Name: ABC Austria 2020FY
After the upload completes, the summary of the dataset conversion is displayed.
The upload summary window presents two options:
-
Go To Edit Mode button takes the user directly into the
Edit Mode of Halo Reports, to start editing the dataset and organizing the questions to make it more user-friendly.
-
Click
Apply to skip editing the dataset. This option will finalize the conversion of the dataset, so the user can begin utilizing the data and analyzing the content immediately.
A) A screen after clicking Go To Edit Mode is presented below.
The dataset is opened in the Edit Mode window.
B) Example screen after clicking Apply.
The list with the added dataset is displayed in the Connect section.
A new entry, 'ABC', will appear on the Study Family list.
The new dataset, 'ABC Austria 2020FY', will be listed under Available Sources.
