Define the Scope and Details of a Version

After selecting “Create a copy”, a version modal will appear. With this modal you can specify the following information:

1. Version name

A label for that version, which will be displayed next to the dataset name on the datasets list in the Connect view. The name of the version must be unique within a single dataset, but not within the study family.

2. Dataset name

If necessary, the user can also change the name of the dataset. This change will affect only the defined version, not the entire dataset (e.g., the version will be displayed as XXX (YYY) in the dataset list, where XXX is this defined name).

3. Filters

User can choose which cases will be available in the defined version with the usage of filter modal (same as in the Halo Reports). Filtered cases will not be displayed nor included in the calculation when the user will use this version.

4. Attributes

You can override the attributes of a dataset and specify their values with this field (e.g., if the data come from UE5 and you are preparing only Germany data, you can specify the country attribute as DE only for this version).

5. Default weight

You can override or specify the default weight for the version. It works the same way as a weight assigned for the dataset, but strictly on the defined version level.

6. Copy when dataset is a reference (On/Off)

If this is set to on, the defined version will be copied to every dataset that will have this very dataset as a reference one.

7. Questions

With this tree-structured list you can choose which questions (or entire sections) should be included or excluded from the version.

8. Linked to base (On/Off)

If on, the list of questions in the version will be always the same as for the base version. This is dynamic, so if you change something in the base version, this change will affect the scope of the discussed version. This allows the user to easily create versions that are subsets of the main datasets in terms of cases/respondents (e.g., the user can split the dataset on a country or wave level and have a common structure of questions).

If all necessary details are specified, the OK button will be active and the new version creation will be possible. This version will be selected as active immediately after the creation, meaning you will see only these questions in Data Import that will be included in the scope of that version. You can go back to the Base (or any other version) by selecting it from the top ribbon. You can edit the dataset only with the base version selected.
