Transposition is useful if we do not want to exchange the variables on which calculations are to be performed but simply want to display them in different positions against each other. In the example below, the calculations are being performed on the same variable as in the original spreadsheet, however, it has been transposed from columns to rows, together with the sigma icon. Before, the "Make of new phone" variable was displayed in rows, while the "Overall satisfaction with product" variable - in columns.
