Data Import

In Data Import you work with either an individual dataset or a more detailed study consisting of multiple datasets.

Individual Dataset

For an individual dataset, you can:

- Set dataset variables as  Halo Reports questions with an appropriate question type (single-choice, numeric, binary coded multichoice, category-coded multichoice, evaluation set, verbatim);

- Indicate which variable(s) should be used as a study weight (or weights if there is more than one). It is also possible to set a weight which should be used as default for a specific question/questions.

- Arrange a desired order of questions, including a folder-like structure of questions;

- Change a question label (also using a bulk rename feature);

- Duplicate a question;

- Disconnect a question, i.e., indicate that a variable should not be further available in Query.

Edit a dictionary used in the given question which includes:

  - Changing a response label;

  - Changing an order of responses;

  - Combining responses;

  - Assigning and editing a statistical value for a response. It indicates with what value the given response is included in the calculation of an average;

  - Marking a response as “no answer;"

  - Converting a missing value into a meaningful response;

  - Autocompleting a dictionary - i.e., filling in a dictionary with codes that appear in the data but were delivered in the input file without any labels;

  - Editing a dictionary via export/import to and from a CSV file;

  - Assigning one dictionary to multiple questions (feature of Shared Dictionaries);

- Set a top-box behavior for a question, i.e., indicate which values should be used for top-2-box calculation;

- Set calculation base for a question, i.e., force  Halo Reports Query to use only selected respondents as a base for all calculations for the question;

- Provide translations for question and response texts;

- Download/restore a study backup if needed;

- Create different versions of a given dataset if it is needed to differentiate it for different groups of users  (e.g., make some questions visible only for selected users).

Multiple Datasets

When working with multiple datasets, you can additionally:

- Define Dataset Attributes, i.e., indicate from which wave, market, etc., a dataset comes from;

- Use one dataset as a reference for another dataset so that questions, their labels, types, etc., are copied from the reference dataset to a new dataset (applies if variable names are consistent between datasets);

- Match variables manually with an appropriate question if variable names are not consistent across datasets;

- Extend multi-choice and evaluation set questions by new responses;

- Decide whether all datasets should be presented with the same structure (questions order and labels) or in a different way (feature of Alternative Structures);

- Align dictionaries and response labels across datasets (feature of Combining Dictionaries).
