Accessing the Storybuilding Mode

When working with the report that you can edit, the Storybuilding mode can be entered via the dedicated mode switcher in the application's top ribbon.

Note that the mode switcher will only be visible if you are permitted to use reporting modes other than the Viewing mode. In such a case, depending on your application role, you can switch between the Viewing mode and the Storybuilding mode, and potentially also the Authoring mode if your permissions allow it.

Note that if you have access to the Storybuilding features but only have view access to the report you have opened, you may still be able to switch to the Storybuilding mode if the document allows the reuse of its content. In such a case, you won’t be allowed to save any changes you make while in the Storybuilding mode to the active document, but you can save those changes into a separate copy of the document using the Save As option. Dedicated icons in the application header next to the file name, as well as an additional disclaimer bar, are in place to underline the fact that the active report cannot be modified, and can only be used as a starting point for a new one.
If the document does not allow reusing its content, the Storybuilding access will always be disabled for such a report.

If you have edit rights to the document, you can choose to go directly into report editing (rather than viewing) from Content Services.

If you have Storybuilding permissions on Insight Cloud, this will guide you directly into the Storybuilding mode for this document. Note that if you also have authoring permissions, then you will be directed to the authoring environment instead.

In the current version, it is not possible to create an empty report as the starting point for the Storybuilding experience. Users need to access an existing report to start Storybuilding from there.
